Last year around this time, I was walking with my friend Kim.
Kim: Hey, want to train for a half-marathon with me?
Me: ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? THIRTEEN POINT ONE MILES?!?
Kim: Thank you for saying that number out loud.
(at this point in my life, the furthest I had ever run was ONE mile, 10 years ago in high school)
Me: Um, you go ahead.
Needless to say, I ate those words... when I ran my half marathon last September.
Well, after I ran that half marathon, everyone kept asking me if I was going to do another one.
Me: Um, no. 5Ks and 10Ks are good for me. I just wanted to do a half-marathon once to prove to myself I could do it. I don't think I'm ever doing it again.
Well...
I am eating my words yet again. My sister and I just signed up to run the Rock and Roll Half Marathon in Seattle on June 26th! I am so excited!
Last year, my goal was to finish the race and not die. I'm happy to report that I accomplished that goal. This year, I'm going to actually try and beat my time! Last year at this time, I didn't believe that I could ever do a half marathon. Now I KNOW that I can do it, because I HAVE done it, and I'm hoping my confidence will help me do it better. Wish me luck!
Anyone want to train with me??

wow, i wish I lived close so I could train, so that I could then say I'd finally done it in this lifetime, and could do that first time and NOT DIE :) LOL
Good luck! Can't wait to hear all about it!
p.s. I laughed so hard on Sunday as I read one post comment after another. It made my whole day.
-wink-
You're such a thoughtful awesome person :) I'm glad we're related!
Wow Amy, you are so ambitious. Good luck training, do you run with your kids?
YOU GO AMY!!
Awesome. I would run with you. No really. I was trying to train with a neighbor but I have a commitment issue and don't want to pay any money until I actually make it there. Sadly all my miles have to be on the yucky tread mill.
I could use any tips you want to share like how the training was for the last few weeks. And of course how your race was. Oh and let me know when you go for the full marathon. You know you want to!:)
Good for you! you're going to do great!
Good luck! If I lived closer and weren't pregnant I'd take you up on the training thing- except I'd be at a much lower level than you currently are... But hope you beat your time this time!
Good Luck! PS...no snow here, come on down! :)
